Here’s a closer look at the top universities in mainland China, based on the QS World University Rankings.
Zhejiang Universityis another of the oldest universities in China, located in the city of Hangzhou.
With a cohort of 6,843 international students, and around 8,000 faculty and students who participate annually in various overseas mobility programmes, ZJU fully harnesses an extensive network to nurture talent with a global outlook.
Shanghai Jiao Tong University
Shanghai Jiao Tong University is one of China’s oldest and most internationally reputed universities. As its name suggests, it’s based in Shanghai, and has a strong focus on postgraduate studies, with graduate enrolments exceeding undergraduates.
Fudan University
Fudan Universityis located in Shanghai, China’s largest city by population and among the largest urban areas in the world.
Fudan is home to approximately 4,000 international students from all corners of the globe. Students can choose from diverse forms of extracurricular activities including cultural and hobby sessions organised by student societies, and public lectures that invite top industrial leaders and scholars from home and abroad.
The prestigiousTsinghua University, based in Chinese capital Beijing, has a consistently strong reputation with both academics and employers, and is among the best universities in the world.
The campus of Tsinghua University is located in northwest Beijing, in the Haidian district, on the former site of the Qing Dynasty royal gardens. As such it retains Chinese-style landscaping as well as traditional buildings, although many of its buildings are also western in style, reflecting its American heritage. Like its archrival Peking, Tsinghua is known for having one of the most beautiful university campuses.

Fellow Beijing-based institution Peking University is the oldest higher education institution in China and among the country's most celebrated universities.
The university consists of 30 colleges and 12 departments, with 93 specialties for undergraduates, two specialties for the second Bachelor's degree, 199 specialties for Master candidates and 173 specialties for Doctoral candidates. While still laying stress on basic sciences, the university has paid special attention to the development of applied sciences.
